Idris Elba is the latest celebrity to announce he’s tested positive for coronavirus.
Elba, 47, made the revelation in a video and posted it on social media Monday. The actor said he feels fine and so far has shown no symptoms. He explained he was in close contact with someone else who tested positive, and was made aware of the diagnosis on Friday.
“I quarantined myself and got tested immediately and got the results back today,” he explained. “Look, this is serious, you know? Now is the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands.”
Although Elba said he is in quarantine, he’s not at home alone. His wife Sabrina Elba, 30, sat behind him in the video.

Elba, who is known for his roles on The Wire and Luther, also reminded fans that they could test positive for COVID-19 and not exhibit any symptoms while unknowingly spreading the virus to others.
“Transparency is probably the best thing for this now,” Elba said. “If you’re feeling ill, if you feel like you should be tested or you’ve been exposed, do something about it.”
The British actor is the latest celebrity to announce they’ve tested positive amid this global pandemic. Oscar-winning acting legend Tom Hanks, 63, and his wife Rita Wilson are in isolation in Australia after testing positive for coronavirus.
