Ice Cube Joins Tracee Ellis Ross in Music Industry Comedy ‘Covers’

O’Shea “Ice Cube” Jackson will star alongside actresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Dakota Johnson in a comedy about the music industry.

Focus Features and Working Title Films announced the rapper and actor’s involvement in the upcoming film, Covers, on Wednesday.

“Set among the talent, fame, and fast-paced world of Hollywood’s music scene, which Ice Cube knows of first-hand, Covers is directed by Late Night director Nisha Ganatra with a screenplay by Flora Greeson,” a press release stated.

Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce the film, while Alexandra Loewy will serve as executive producer. Ross and Johnson were previously announced as part of the cast, and Covers is currently in production.

Ice Cube’s other upcoming films include Hambug, Ride Along 3, and Last Friday . He’s also rumored to have a role in The Killer’s Game, an adaptation of a Jay Bonansinga novel of the same name.

The rapper has previously starred in the Barbershop franchise, and 22 Jump Street, just to name a few titles.
