Many Americans woke up to news Friday that President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19.

Trump, 74, shared details about the test results on Twitter just before 1 a.m. ET, writing: “Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!”

The stunning post came hours after White House aide Hope Hicks, who recently traveled with Trump, also tested positive.

In an update Friday, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows told reporters Trump has mild symptoms, but is “in good spirits.”

COVID-19 has claimed more than 208,000 lives in the U.S. and decimated the economy. Yet Trump has frequently downplayed the virus, and he mocked Joe Biden at Tuesday’s presidential debate for wearing a mask.

Hollywood stars didn’t let that slip and took to Twitter to give Trump a dose of his own medicine (pun intended).

“How many people has #Trump potentially exposed to this virus with his reckless behavior and his disregard for science!” comedian D.L. Hughley tweeted.

Actress Sophia Bush wrote on Twitter: “Is it still a ‘Democrat hoax?’ Are you still going to mock people for wearing masks? Are you sorry for lying to the American people for months? I ask these b/c I assume you’ll get the best taxpayer funded gov’t healthcare avail + genuinely hope you recover. But you owe us answers.”

“It’s not possible to fully articulate how completely irresponsible Donald Trump has been, both as president and personally, when it comes to the coronavirus. He has risked his own life, his staff and Secret Services’ lives, his fans’ lives, his family’s and frankly the Bidens,” added MSNBC host Joy Reid on Twitter.

“Karma,” Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi tweeted.

Actor and comedian Marlon Wayans shared a meme on Instagram of Trump drinking a huge bottle of bleach. “Too soon?” Wayans asked his followers, in a reference to Trump’s April suggestion that disinfectants could cure the virus.
