Halle Berry and Lena Waithe are teaming up to bring the iconic film Boomerang to television.

The Oscar-winning actress and Emmy-winning writer will serve as co-executive producers of the 10-part BET series, Variety reported Monday.

The reboot is based on the 1992 movie about a womanizing executive who runs into trouble when a woman becomes his new boss.

The film starred Eddie Murphy, Robin Givens and Berry. The new series will follow the lives of their children as they try to step out of their parents’ shadows and make a legacy of their own.

“This is less of a reboot and more of a continuation of the original story,” Waithe said in a statement. “There’s no point in trying to remake a classic. It can’t be done. So we want to create something fresh that speaks to a new generation.”

Berry took to Twitter to let fans know about the project.

“Excited to announce that @LenaWaithe, @BET and I are bringing #Boomerang to the small screen!” she tweeted.

Produced by BET Networks and Paramount Television, the series will premiere in 2019.
