Gladys Knight will kick off Super Bowl LIII by singing the national anthem.
The NFL announced Thursday the “Empress of Soul” has been booked to perform The Star-Spangled Banner before the game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Feb. 3.
The 74-year-old Georgia native, who is best known for her hit singles, including Midnight Train to Georgia released a statement saying she’s “proud” to take part in the Super Bowl.
“I am proud to use my voice to unite and represent our country in my hometown of Atlanta,” Knight said in a statement. “The NFL recently announced their new social justice platform ‘Inspire Change,’ and I am honored to be a part of its inaugural year.”
Knight added on Twitter, “Atlanta, I’m coming home!”

Inspire Change is designed to emphasize community work done by players, owners and the league, according to the NFL.
Over the years, Knight has had 11 No. 1 R&B singles, won seven Grammy awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with The Pips in 1996.

Maroon 5 has been confirmed as the official halftime show performer, along with Travis Scott and Atlanta rapper and producer, Big Boi.
Knight’s performance will air live on CBS before the game begins.
