George H.W. Bush’s service dog Sully traveled with the late former president on his final journey to Washington, D.C.
Before boarding a flight from Texas to the nation’s capital, the yellow Labrador was photographed resting beside Bush’s flag-drapped casket in a moving tribute.
Jim McGrath, spokesman for the Bush family, tweeted the photo of the pup, captioning it “mission complete. Remembering 41.”
Jeb Bush retweeted the image, adding “Sully has the watch.”

Bush, who served as the 41st president, died Friday night at age 94.
Sully, his 2-year-old service companion, is named after pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, who safely landed a passenger plane in the Hudson River after hitting a flock of geese.

Sully (the dog) was matched with Bush in June, following the death of former first lady Barbara Bush.
Since then, the canine has remained by Bush’s side, even accompanying him to the voting booth as he cast a ballot in the November election.
Sully will remain in the Washington area, helping wounded soldiers and active duty personnel at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.
