Edith González, who for decades had lead roles on popular telenovelas, has died. She was 54
The Mexican soap opera star passed away Thursday, three years after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, CNN reported.
González started acting as a child in the 1970s and worked in television, film and theatre.
She appeared in some of the world’s most popular Spanish-language soaps, including Corazón Salvaje, Salomé and Doña Barbara.
Broadcaster TV Azteca posted a video tribute to the actress on its Instagram feed Thursday, saying she will always be remembered and “rest in peace.”
González revealed in August 2016 that she had been diagnosed with cancer. She shared details about her cancer battle on social media and kept fans up to date.
The actress is survived by her husband, Lorenzo Lazo Margáin, and her teenage daughter.
