Eddie Murphy plays a fast-talking pimp in the trailer for Dolemite Is My Name.

Murphy stars in the Netflix biopic based on the life of comedian, movie producer and rap pioneer Rudy Ray Moore. When Hollywood shuts him out, Moore comes up with an outrageous alter-ego and strikes out on his own to make the 1975 blaxploitation film Dolemite.

The video opens with Moore (Murphy) creating his Dolemite character — a wig-wearing, Kung fu-fighting pimp — in an effort to reinvent himself and jump start his stand-up career.

Moore drops his catchphrase: “Dolemite is my name, and f-cking up motherf-ckers is my game.”

In another scene, he explains why the character is so outlandish.

“Whatever it takes, I’m ready to do it,” he says. “I got to be totally outrageous.”

Wesley Snipes co-stars as D’Urville Martin, who directed Moore in the film Dolemite. Alongside Murphy and Snipes are Tituss Burgess, Craig Robinson, Keegan-Michael Key, Mike Epps, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Luenell, and Snoop Dogg.

Hustle & Flow director Craig Brewer helmed the film, which will be released this fall.
