Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds will return to Instagram Live with songs from the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack as a treat for fans on Mother’s Day.
The 11-time Grammy winner plans to play music from the 16-track album, while fans eager to hear it all practice social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It all came about after viewers shared their love for Edmonds’ stories during his epic Verzuz battle with producer Teddy Riley, where more than half a million people tuned in to his IG Live.
“There were so many people on Instagram Live that wanted to hear music from the Waiting to Exhale (soundtrack) and so I thought this would be great on Mother’s Day, to play the Waiting to Exhale album, to tell stories, tell how it all happened and talk about the artists,” he shared this week on ABC’s The View.

Babyface wrote the music for the soundtrack, which included Whitney Houston’s “Exhale (Shoop Shoop),” Brandy’s “Sittin’ Up in My Room,” and Mary J. Blige’s “Not Gon’ Cry.” He plans to share stories about how it all came together.
“Because that was half the fun of it all doing the Instagram Live was being able to tell stories and tell things people were so interested in that, so I thought it would be fun to do as well,” he added.
The super-producer has also announced plans to release his first album since 2015.
“I write things all the time, but I don’t ever feel like putting it out,” he shared. “I’m always like, ‘Nah, that’s not it, that’s not it.’ So, I’m the worst with that. I have tons of things, and I feel like it’s time for new music.”
Now that Edmond’s has recovered from his own battle with the coronavirus, he is hard at work on other projects, including a get out the vote partnership with former first lady Michelle Obama and Riley.
You can watch the Waiting to Exhale virtual experience by visiting Babyface’s Instagram Live on Sunday, May 10.
