Aretha Franklin’s funeral will only be open to family and friends, but arrangements are being made for fans to watch online and on cable news.
The Associated Press plans to stream the service live on the internet, according to the Detroit Free Press. CNN and Fox News will broadcast portions of the funeral on television. More details are expected later this week.
The Queen of Soul’s funeral will begin at 10 a.m. ET on Friday, Aug. 31 at the Greater Grace Temple in Detroit.
Former President Bill Clinton, Smokey Robinson, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and Cicely Tyson are scheduled to speak, The Associated Press confirmed. Other speakers include former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, music mogul Clive Davis, the Rev. Al Sharpton, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and other local politicians.

There will also be a series of musical tributes with Stevie Wonder, Faith Hill, Chaka Khan, Fantasia,
Jennifer Hudson, Yolanda Adams, The Clark Sisters and other artists scheduled to perform.
The day before the funeral, a public tribute concert is scheduled to take place in Chene Park Amphitheatre in Detroit.
Meanwhile in Los Angeles, there will be a gospel music concert honoring Franklin on Aug. 30, at the California African American Museum. The event is hosted by Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and the
Los Angeles County Arts Commission. It is free to the public and begins at 7 p.m. Additional details can be found here.
Franklin died Aug. 16, at her home in Detroit after battling pancreatic cancer. She was 76.
