Meghan McCain says she’s tired of “re-litigating” the Capitol insurrection, but Sunny Hostin insists “we cannot forget.”

On Thursday’s episode of The View, the co-hosts shared their thoughts about a House Oversight Committee hearing a day earlier on the Jan. 6 attack by Trump supporters.

Sara Haines called comments Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Georgia) made at the hearing “shocking,” and said the Trump loyalist is trying to downplay the attack as part of a “strategy” of repeating the same false claims, to make them appear true.

Whoopi Goldberg then asked McCain her thoughts on the GOP’s “new narrative.”

Instead, McCain shifted the focus to President Joe Biden and said the mainstream media is giving Biden a free pass on issues affecting average Americans.

“You know what’s also a ‘strategy’ Sara? A ‘strategy’ is not focusing on anything the Biden administration is doing right now that is leading this country into crisis,” McCain insisted. “There’s a crisis at the border, inflation rates are sky high, the Middle East is on fire, unemployment is crazy, and a lot of Americans can’t figure out how they’re going to get gas in their car. These are real problems, it’s like the ’70s all over again.”

McCain then urged journalists to stop “re-litigating something that happened four months ago.”

“The media doesn’t want to focus on anything bad happening in the Biden administration, and I implore everyone who works in this industry, just because Trump was so bad, doesn’t mean this is good!” she said.

Sunny Hostin was not having it.

“It’s really important not to forget what happened just four months ago. The attack on our democracy continues each and every day by the Republican Party, and that is something we cannot forget,” Hostin said. “January 6, 2021 should go down in history as the day that our democracy was attacked by insurrectionists, started by a disgraced, former, twice impeached president — one-term president.”
