Mystikal and Remy Ma (TV One)

Mystikal and Remy Ma are detailing the highs and lows of stardom in TV One’s upcoming back-to-back episodes of Unsung and Uncensored, airing this Sunday.

In newly released promo videos, New Orleans native Mystikal discusses the struggle of having two different baby mamas, while Remy Ma shares details about her time being locked up.

Up first on Unsung is the “Danger” rapper, who reveals some of the perks he received from music exec Master P — including a “country club house” — once he started climbing the charts in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Mystikal, who’s also spent time behind bars, then goes into the drama of having two children (around the same time) by two different women.

“Having two baby moms…[sighs] They knew about each other. I bought her an Excursion, I bought her an Expedition. She get a chain, she get a chain. Whatever she got, she got, you know? I kept it even,” he explains.

After becoming a star, the rapper said he wanted to improve his mom’s life as well.

“She worked at AMPM until I made it. And soon as I made it, I went into that grocery store, ‘That’s it everybody. Come go Ma, I got you from here Ma — they can’t pay you like I’mma pay you,” Mystikal recalled.

“As a matter of fact, the first Mercedes Benz I bought — gave that to my mom. The first house I bought, my mom,” he added

The series is narrated by actor Gary Anthony Williams and executive produced by Arthur Smith and Frank Sinton of A. Smith & Co. Productions. Mark Rowland also serves as executive producer.

After Unsung airs, Uncensored will explore rap queen Remy Ma’s tumultuous childhood in the Bronx.

In a promo video, the “Wake Me Up” performer discusses her time in prison after allegedly shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph at a Manhattan nightspot in 2007.

“I went through my own stuff, but there was so many people that was way worse than me. And a lot of my friends, people that I call my friends now, are people that I met there,” she said.

“They risked their freedom inside when I needed people to call home for me, when I say I would get in trouble and I couldn’t eat, they would cook food for me. Risk getting in trouble themselves to bring me food,” she continued. Things they didn’t have to do and it wasn’t because I was ‘Remy Ma.’”

She was released from prison in 2014, after serving six years. To hear more, check out the videos below.

Uncensored is produced for TV One by executive producers Eric Tomosunas, Keith Neal, James Seppelfrick and Paul Hall; co-executive producer Jay Allen, and producer Nikki Byles of Swirl Films.
