Issa Rae took up hosting duties this weekend on Saturday Night Live.

After an opening monologue that focused on her series Insecure and the COVID-19 pandemic, Rae took a shot at Kanye West’s struggling presidential campaign.

During a sketch about a politically-themed talk show, the actress played NAACP attorney Jamele Demmings. She was joined by Kenan Thompson as news anchor J. Louis Tibbs and Ego Nwodim, who portrayed a freelance writer named Lisa Crowder.

The three sat down to discuss the upcoming election on a program called “Your Voice Chicago.”

Thompson asked Rae’s character her strategy for deciding who to vote for in the upcoming election. Her response, “I’m voting for everybody Black.”

A confused Thompson wanted to know why.

“For too long our people’s voices have not been heard. It’s our duty to stand together and take our power back,” Rae responded.

She admitted she didn’t care if the candidates had any experience, as long as they were Black.

The names on the ballot included a strip club owner-turned-reverend named D’Angelo Banks, played by Chris Redd. D’Angelo was busted for tax fraud before running for city comptroller, but Rae said he would get her vote. “He knows the system and all the loopholes,” she explained.

She also backed a “conservative online duo” who looked a lot like Trump-loving pair Diamond and Silk. The two, played by comedian Punkie Johnson and Maya Rudolph, had just finished live streaming a video about “fake news.” Rae was hesitant about the two, but said she would vote for them anyway.

“These ladies are passionate and we need more of that in politics,” she said.

When Thompson brought up the presidential race, there was one candidate Rae could not get behind — Kanye West.

“Kanye? F- him!” she said.
