Another Black-ish spinoff is in the works at ABC.

According to published reports, the series titled Old-ish will star Laurence Fishburne and Jenifer Lewis, who will reprise their roles as Earl “Pops” Johnson and Ruby Johnson, parents of Anthony Anderson’s Dre.

Black-ish creator Kenya Barris will write and executive produce, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The new show is currently in development and will follow Fishburne and Lewis’ characters as they attempt to give love a second chance. The story will be set in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood in Los Angeles.

In addition to Barris, Fishburne will executive produce alongside Anderson and Artists First’s E. Brian Dobbins. Lewis will be credited as a producer. Fishburne has been an executive producer on Black-ish since it launched.

This is the third spinoff of the acclaimed ABC series. There is the Freeform series Grown-ish, starring Yara Shahidi; and Mixed-ish, a 1980s-set prequel built around the younger version of Tracee Ellis Ross’ character, Rainbow.

Barris signed an overall deal with Netflix in August 2018, however, THR reports that the agreement allows him to remain deeply connected to the Black-ish franchise.

Barris’ comedy #BlackAF premiered on Netflix in April 2020 and was recently renewed for a second season.
