Disgraced Florida politician Andrew Gillum and his wife R. Jai Gillum will be featured on the season 2 premiere of the Tamron Hall show.

Gillum, a former Tallahassee mayor who in 2018 came close to being elected governor of Florida, was once considered a rising star in the Democratic Party. But in March 2020, his political fortunes fell when he was found in a Miami Beach hotel room with drug paraphernalia and an alleged male prostitute.

Gillum, a former CNN contributor, later apologized and went to rehab for alcohol abuse.

According to a press release from the Tamron Hall show, he “will discuss his swift fall from grace, his rehabilitation experience in the face of adversity, and share what life looks like now.” His wife will talk about the impact the scandal has had on their family.

“I cried every day,” Andrew Gillum says in a preview clip released by the Tamron Hall show.

In July, he took to Instagram to say he had stepped away from the spotlight to focus on his “issues with alcoholism,” and this will be his first televised interview since the scandal broke.

Other premiere week guests on the talk show include actors Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Evans, and reality star Stassi Schroeder. This is Schroeder’s first interview since she was fired from Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules amid a racism scandal after she was outed for falsely accusing a Black castmate of robbery.

Season 2 of Tamron Hall premieres on Monday, Sept. 14.
