Oprah Winfrey’s O Magazine is putting up billboards around the city of Louisville, Kentucky demanding justice for Breonna Taylor.

Taylor, a 26-year-old EMT, was shot multiple times and killed by police officers who forced their way into her apartment with a no-knock warrant. The billboards calls for the officers involved in the shooting to be arrested and charged for her death.

Social justice organization Until Freedom announced on Twitter that it would be posting the billboards around Taylor’s hometown 26 times.

26 billboards – for every year of life of #BreonnaTaylor erected in Louisville, KY,” the tweet read. “Kentucky will not forget her name. We will get justice for Breonna.”

The billboards have been funded by O: The Oprah Magazine and will be up for one month, according to the Courier Journal.

They include a quote from Winfrey, and a link to UntilFreedom.com. “If you turn a blind eye to racism, you become an accomplice to it,” the quote on the billboards reads.

As Urban Hollywood 411 previously reported, for the first time in the magazine’s history, O: The Oprah Magazine featured a photo of someone other than Winfrey on the front cover of their magazine. Instead, Breonna Taylor is being featured on the front of the September issue.

“We have to use whatever megaphone we have to cry for justice,” Winfrey said in an article in her magazine. “And that is why Breonna Taylor is on the cover of O magazine. I cry for justice in her name. The September issue honors her and every other Black woman whose life has been taken too soon.”

The goal of featuring Taylor’s portrait on the cover is to further amplify her story and fight for justice.
