Kim Kardashian West has partnered with Oxygen to bring attention to her fight for criminal justice reform.

The reality star unveiled the trailer for her new documentary Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project this weekend at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena, Calif.

The two-hour film chronicles her efforts to secure freedom for people she believes were wronged by the justice system. The trailer shows Kardashian traveling to prisons, lobbying public officials, and consulting with lawyers as she takes up the cases of Dawn Jackson, Alexis Martin, Momolu Stewart and David Sheppard.

“There is a mass incarceration problem in the United States,” Kardashian says in the video.

After hearing the story of Alice Marie Johnson, a great-grandmother serving a life-plus-25-year sentence as a first-time nonviolent offender, Kardashian began campaigning for criminal justice reform and helped convince the White House to grant Johnson clemency in June 2018.

The documentary captures gripping meetings with inmates as they describe traumatic experiences such as being molested and witnessing a parent kill someone.

“There are a lot of people making bad choices after a lifetime of trauma,” Kardashian says in the video. Along the way, the film documents the progress that led to the releases of Momolu Stewart and David Sheppard.

The documentary is produced by Kardashian and Bunim Murray Productions with Gil Goldschein, Julie Pizzi, Farnaz Farjam and Vince DiPersio serving as executive producers.

Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project premieres Sunday, April 5, at 7pm ET/PT on Oxygen.
