The 2019 American Music Awards included a nostalgic performance by Toni Braxton, Lizzo showing off her vocal range, and Taylor Swift breaking Michael Jackson’s record for all-time wins.

Taking the stage 25 years after winning her very first American Music Award, Braxton performed her single “Un-Break My Heart” Sunday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Dressed in a strapless white lace gown, Braxton was surrounded by violinists and cellists as she performed the timeless 1996 track. The R&B legend told the audience it was “great to be home.”

Lizzo, who was nominated for three awards (New Artist, Favorite Female – Soul/R&B, Favorite Song – Soul/R&B), belted out her new track “Jerome.” After being introduced by Tyra Banks, the singer-songwriter took the stage in a rose-colored gown, and received a standing ovation.

Ciara hosted the show and wowed the star-studded crowd with her dance moves during a performance of her single, “Melanin.”

Taylor Swift picked up the Artist of the Decade honor and performed a medley of her hits. After winning five competitive awards, the “You Need to Calm Down” singer’s tally of career wins climbed to 28, surpassing Michael Jackson’s record of 24 American Music Awards.
