Nearly three months after the “scariest day” of their lives, Kevin Hart’s friends have given an update on their recovery following a September car accident.

In a Thursday Instagram post, personal trainer Rebecca Broxterman said her fiancé Jared Black underwent “major back surgery” after the crash and they are both improving.

“Grateful and Blessed. September 1, 2019 was the scariest day of my life,” Broxterman began. “God was definitely watching over us that night and protecting us. Thank you, Lord, for wrapping your loving arms around us in our time of need.”

She included photos of herself, Black, and the damaged vehicle, along with a message she wrote on Sept. 17 — two weeks after the accident.

“It is going to be a long road to recovery but we have the best support team. The scariest part for Jared and I was being separated after both being airlifted to UCLA. Just a lot of rest and physical therapy ahead for both of us!” she penned in September.

Broxterman ended her post with an update on how she and Black are doing today.

“Feeling so much better! We are both healing! Jared is well on the road to recovery after having major back surgery! We are doing physical therapy together a few times a week!” she wrote.

“Our relationship is stronger than ever and we have so much to be thankful for! Life can take you in many different directions and we are just so happy to be here for it all!” she added. “This is our journey… it will have ups and it will have downs but we will always have each other.”

The two were injured on Sept. 1, when Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda veered off a highway and rolled down an embankment in Malibu near Calabasas.

The day of the crash, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a press release saying Black was driving, Hart was a passenger and Broxterman was sitting in the backseat.

According to the release, Hart “left the scene” for his nearby residence to get help.

Broxterman and Black were found pinned inside the damaged vehicle. The CHP said Broxterman had only “minor complaints of pain.” Hart and Black sustained serious back injuries.

It was later revealed that the Ride Along star suffered spinal fractures and underwent multiple back surgeries.

In October, the CHP determined that the driver caused the accident after gunning the engine, losing control of the vehicle, crashing through a fence, and careening down an embankment.

Hart made his first official public appearance at the 2019 People’s Choice Awards on Sunday, Nov. 10 in Santa Monica, and received a standing ovation.
