Tamron Hall is offering more insight into her departure from NBC News.

The TV news veteran left NBC in February 2017, shortly after the network announced it was canceling the third hour of Today titled Today’s Take, to make way for Megyn Kelly Today.

Former Today’s Take co-host Hall spoke to reporters Monday at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, while promoting her upcoming ABC talk show Tamron Hall.

She was asked if she felt vindicated by the cancellation of Megyn Kelly’s show after just one year.

“Megyn’s success or not, I already knew they made the wrong choice when I left the door,” Hall said, according to The Wrap. “So I would never measure by her success or perceived lack thereof. I knew the day I left that it was the wrong decision, that’s why I left.”

Despite losing her perch at NBC, Hall said she’s grateful for the opportunity to launch her own daytime show.

“For me, I didn’t know what would come after leaving that situation. I’m blessed and fortunate that this is the end result,” she explained.

Megyn Kelly Today launched in September 2017. The show was a frequent source of controversy following a series of uncomfortable celebrity interviews. NBC ultimately canceled the program in October 2018, after Kelly defended blackface during a discussion about Halloween costumes.

Before her exit, Hall spent ten years working on MSNBC and with NBC News. Her new talk show is set to premiere on September 9.
