3 Family Members Charged in Violent Disneyland Brawl

Two men and a woman have been hit with a string of charges in connection with a family fight earlier this month at Disneyland, prosecutors said Tuesday.

The violent brawl, which took place in the middle of Mickey’s Toontown on July 6, was captured on video that went viral across the internet.

The footage showed family members throwing several punches. At one point, a woman on an electric scooter entered the middle of the fight and was knocked to the ground. Children could be heard crying and a woman asked “where’s security for Disney?”

Anaheim police responded and now charges have been filed.

Avery Desmond Robinson, 35, of Las Vegas, faces five felony charges and nine misdemeanors. He allegedly attacked his sister, brother-in-law and girlfriend, as well as endangered his child and three other children who were at Disneyland with the family, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office said in a July 23 press release.

In the video, Robinson was heard saying “I’m ready to go to jail tonight.”

Prosecutors additionally allege Robinson threatened to kill members of his family as he drove out of a Disneyland parking structure. He is also accused of assaulting a Disneyland employee with his vehicle when the family was escorted out of the park by security.

Robinson is facing one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. In addition, he faces one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon and two felony counts of criminal threats, plus five misdemeanor counts of battery and four misdemeanor counts of child abuse and endangerment.

He could get a maximum seven years and four months in state prison if convicted on all charges.

Robinson’s sister, Andrea Robinson, is facing four misdemeanor charges of battery for allegedly attacking her brother Avery, his girlfriend, and a Disneyland employee. She is also facing one count of misdemeanor assault.

Andrea Robinson, 40, of Compton, faces a maximum of 2 ½ years in jail if convicted on all counts.

Daman Petrie, 44, of Compton, is facing one misdemeanor count of battery. Petrie, who is married to Andrea Robinson, is accused of punching Avery Robinson’s girlfriend in the face during the melee.

Petrie faces a maximum of six months in jail if convicted.
