Chris Rock Doubts DJ Khaled’s ‘We the Best’ Claims

Chris Rock is questioning what exactly it is DJ Khaled does for a living.

The actor and comedian took to Instagram Sunday to poke fun at Khaled’s well-known catchphrase, “we the best”,  a reference to his 2007 album of the same name. Khaled is often heard shouting his calling card on various tracks, like Drake’s “For Free,” to name one example.

“Another one (Another one, another one) // We the Best Music! (Music, music) Major Key! (Major Key) // DJ Khaled!” he yells at the beginning of the track.

Seemingly amused by Khaled’s self-promotion and confidence, Rock shared a meme of the producer peering around a door below the words: “That’s a nice song you got there … mind if I yell my name on it?”

Rock captioned the gag: “Best producer in the game. He the best.”

Rock’s lighthearted jab might have been inspired by Khaled’s new album, Father of Asahd, which dropped May 17. Although the work features 15 tracks and 29 different performers, the producer doesn’t have his own song. Regardless, Khaled can be heard shouting his go-to phrases all throughout the album.

Father of Asahd soared to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart with a total of 136,000 equivalent album sales last week, losing to Tyler, the Creator for the top spot.
