Disney’s Aladdin remake conjured up massive ticket sales over the Memorial Day weekend and exceeded expectations.

The live-action retelling of the studio’s 1992 animated classic earned an estimated $86.1 million over 3-days and is expected to pass $100 million in North America by Monday, according to Comscore.

The movie-musical stars Will Smith as the larger-than-life blue Genie. Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott co-star.

Critics didn’t love the adaptation from director Guy Ritchie, giving it a so-so 58 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. They described the movie as “bland,” with some reviews saying the film needed a “better Genie.” Still, moviegoers brushed off the negative critiques and flocked to see the film.
