One day after Wendy Williams spoke out about her “new life” after filing for divorce, her estranged husband Kevin Hunter is breaking his silence.

Hunter issued a statement to People Tuesday, telling the outlet that Williams is an “amazing woman” and that he’s “not proud” of his “recent actions.”

“28 years ago I met an amazing woman: Wendy Williams. At the time, I didn’t realize that she would not only become my wife, but would also change the face of entertainment and the world,” Hunter said in the statement.

He added: “I have dedicated most of our lives to the business empire that is Wendy Williams Hunter, a person that I truly love and respect unconditionally. I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans.”

It’s possible Hunter is alluding to rumors that he recently fathered a child with a massage therapist named Sharina Hudson. The two have allegedly been involved in a long-term affair.

Williams’ ex ended his message with a promise to right his wrongs.

“No matter what the outcome is or what the future holds, we are still The Hunter Family and I will continue to work with and fully support my wife in this business and through any and all obstacles she may face living her new life of sobriety, while I also work on mine,” he stated. “I ask that you please give me and my family privacy as we heal. Thank you.”

Williams filed for divorce from her husband of 21 years on April 11. The television host addressed the news on Monday during The Wendy Williams Show‘s “Hot Topics” segment, telling viewers that she’s excited to start fresh without Hunter.

The host and author, who has been living in a sober house for months, stated: “I have to tell you, you know, I’ve been dealing with issues with addiction, alcoholism, and I have a whole new life that I planned for myself and my son.”

She added: “When you lay in a room with no TV and four gray walls all day … This is my life at the sober house. It’s one of the best things, honestly, that could have ever happened to me.”

Williams also addressed the couple’s teenage son in her message, promising him that she’ll leave the sober house “better, stronger, and faster than ever.”
