Wendy Williams has called it quits on her marriage.
The talk show host’s attorney confirmed to Page Six Thursday that she will file for divorce from Kevin Hunter, her husband of 21 years.
The couple wed in November 1997 and share a teenage son together, Kevin Jr.
Williams’ lawyer didn’t elaborate on a reason for a split, but rumors about the couple’s marital woes have swirled for years.
Her husband is said to be involved in an ongoing affair with a massage therapist named Sharina Hudson, who gave birth to a baby last month. Hunter has been photographed with Hudson multiple times, with pictures of the two splashed across tabloids and celebrity websites.
The television personality hasn’t released her own statement about the breakup, but it’s possible she’ll address the news on The Wendy Williams Show.
Williams just returned to the show on April 8, after taking a week-long vacation. The author said she took the time away to travel with friends from her sober house, where she has resided for months to deal with addiction issues.
“The great thing about being in the sober house [is] the people that I live with,” she told viewers.
This isn’t the first time Williams has taken a break from her popular show. After two months away, the entertainer returned to the series on March 4, and dismissed the cheating and domestic abuse rumors surrounding Hunter.
“I want to shout out to my husband. I’m still wearing my ring,” she said. “He’s my best friend, he’s my lover, he’s all this and he’s all that. I know what you’ve been seeing and I know what the streets have been talking about.”
Williams also brushed off the gossip in September 2017, stating: “I stand by my guy. All is well in Hunterville. Don’t believe the hype and if there was hype, believe me you — I would let you know!”
Although Williams hasn’t spoken out about the recent development, her show’s production company, Debmar-Mercury, released the following statement to E! News: “Wendy and her family have been a part of Debmar-Mercury for over 10 years. We respect their privacy regarding personal matters. As always, we remain committed to bringing an entertaining and topical show to our viewers.”
