Gunfire erupted Thursday evening in South Los Angeles leaving one person dead and three others injured along the funeral procession route for slain rapper Nipsey Hussle.

Three men and a woman were struck by gunfire in the area of 103rd and Main streets around 6:25 p.m., Los Angeles police said in a press release.

Shortly after the shooting occurred, LAPD Chief Michel Moore took to Twitter to offer more details and to denounce the violence. He said the victims ranged in age from 30 to 50 years old. There was no information available on which victim died.

“Suspects in gray Hyundai fired on the victims, Moore tweeted. “We must stop this senseless violence.”

The shooting came as a hearse carrying Hussle’s body passed through South L.A. allowing fans to say goodbye following the late hip-hop star’s memorial service at Staples Center.

During the three-hour service, Hussle was remembered for his devotion to his family, as well as his efforts to stop gang violence in South L.A. and to bring jobs to the economically-depressed area.
