Camila Cabello will make her feature film acting debut in the upcoming Sony Pictures retelling of Cinderella.
In addition to starring in the live-action movie, the Grammy-nominated Havana singer will be involved in the music for the film from writer-director Kay Cannon, an individual with knowledge of the production told Urban Hollywood 411.
Cannon wrote the Pitch Perfect films, and made her directorial debut with the 2018 comedy Blockers.
This updated version of Cinderella grew out of an original idea from James Corden, and will be produced by Corden and Leo Pearlman through their Fulwell73 production banner.
Sony dropped a cryptic clue about the film Tuesday on Twitter with pictures of Cabello in a blue gown along with the caption: “Grab your glass slippers and ballgowns.”

Cuban-American performer Cabello, who was a member of the group Fifth Harmony, is fresh off the release of her chart-topping debut solo album titled Camila.
The platinum-certified 2018 album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart at the same time Havana reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
This retelling of the classic story about an orphaned girl with an evil stepmother will be music-oriented. However, it’s unclear how closely the project will follow the animated 1950 Disney movie or the studio’s live-action 2015 film starring Lily James and Cate Blanchett.
Sony has put its Cinderella film on the fast track for production.
