Tamar Braxton made Celebrity Big Brother history Wednesday night.

The R&B singer was named the Season 2 winner in the finale, making her the first African-American contestant to win the U.S. version of Big Brother.

The mom-of-one was visibly moved by her win, erupting into tears as her name was announced. Former NFL star Ricky Williams, who competed against Braxton for the title, held her hand and gave her a hug as she struggled to regain her composure.

To secure the win, the 41-year-old entertainer had to give a speech to a panel comprised of her former roommates.

“I am a huge fan of this show. I played the game to the best of my ability,” she told the group. “I lost my job publicly in front of everybody. I lost my husband… And I almost lost my life.”

Braxton’s emotional plea must have resonated with the other contestants because they voted unanimously in her favor. Williams, on the other hand, walked away with zero votes.

The Maryland native was awarded $250,000 in prize money, while Williams earned $50,000 for coming in second place.
