Directors Guild Awards: Alfonso Cuarón Takes Top Film Prize for ‘Roma’

The Directors Guild of America held its 71st annual awards Saturday night in Hollywood, with
Alfonso Cuarón winning the top film honor for directing Roma, almost assuring that he’ll take home the directing award at the Oscars as well.

Cuarón was nominated alongside A Star Is Born director Bradley Cooper, Spike Lee for BlacKkKlansman, Adam McKay for Vice, and Peter Farrelly for Green Book. It was the Mexico native’s second time picking up the feature film award, after winning in 2013 for Gravity.

Aisha Tyler hosted the awards, which were held at the Hollywood & Highland Center’s Ray Dolby Ballroom.
