Bow Wow has been released from jail just in time for the Super Bowl.
The 31-year-old rapper landed behind bars early Saturday morning in Atlanta, following a physical altercation with a woman, according to police.
The hip-hop star, whose real name is Shad Moss, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting the woman during a fight around 4:15 a.m.
When officers arrived on the scene, the woman claimed Bow Wow had assaulted her. But Moss said not so fast and accused the woman, identified as Leslie Holden, of attacking him.
“Both parties did sustain visible minor injuries,” the Atlanta Police Department said in a press release. “Officers were unable to determine the primary aggressor of the altercation, so both parties were charged with battery.”
A booking photo of the rapper showed scratches on his face. Bow Wow, who police said is a resident of Duluth, Georgia, posted $8,000 bail and was released later in the day, according to inmate booking records. Holden remained behind bars as of Saturday evening, records showed.
TMZ reported that Holden previously dated the rapper and appeared with him on the reality series, Growing Up Hip Hop.
Bow Wow has been promoting a Super Bowl “Sip & Shop” event this weekend in Atlanta that his mother is hosting.
On Friday he tweeted: “Ladies in town for the Super Bowl don’t forget… My mother is having her @shoptasteonline “SIP & SHOP” today!!! 1pm-7pm Fri & Sat.”
The rapper returned to Twitter Saturday evening and retweeted a post from his fan club, Bow Wow Nation.
“Sending nothing but positive vibes your way,” the message said, and included a prayer emoji.
