‘GMA Day’ Rebranded as ‘Strahan and Sara’ Amid Low Ratings

The third hour of Good Morning America has a new name and a new look.

Just four months after GMA Day launched, ABC has renamed the program Strahan & Sara, after
hosts Michael Strahan and Sara Haines.

The new title and upgraded set debuted Monday, when the one-hour daytime program aired at 1 p.m. ET on ABC.

The show’s official Instagram account touted the changes in a post saying, “New name, same @SaraHaines and @MichaelStrahan! We’ll see you for lunch every weekday at 1pET/12pC.”

ABC announced in May 2018 it was launching the GMA extension and canceling its daytime cooking show, The Chew, after seven seasons.

Haines left The View to co-host the show, while Strahan extended his GMA duties when the new program launched in September.

According to Variety, the new program has been averaging between 1.7 million and 1.9 million viewers a day. That’s slightly below The Chew, which brought in more than 2 million viewers daily.

In comparison, The View averaged 2.935 million total viewers during the week of Jan. 14, 2019, ABC said in a press release.
