Cardi B unleashed a profanity-filled tirade on President Donald Trump Wednesday for the government shutdown, which is now entering its fourth week.
The I Like It rapper posted a video on Instagram to remind her followers that there’s no end in sight to the shutdown, yet Trump has ordered thousands of federal employees to return to work without pay.
“Hey y’all, I just wanna remind you because it’s been a little over three weeks,” Cardi B said. “Trump is now ordering, as in summoning, federal government workers to go back to work without getting paid.”
Apparently anticipating some people would hop in the comments section and say there have been previous shutdowns, she fired a preemptive shot.
“Now, I don’t wanna hear y’all motherfu–ers talking about, ‘Oh, but Obama shut down the government for 17 days,’” she continued. “Yeah, bi-ch! For healthcare. So your grandma could check her blood pressure.”
The 26-year-old Bronx native wasn’t done.
“I know a lot of ya’ll don’t care because you don’t work for the government or you probably don’t even have job, but this shit is really fu–ing serious bro. This sh-t is serious. Our country is in a hellhole right now, all for a fu–ing wall,” she added. “And we really need to take this serious. I feel like we really need to take some action. I don’t know what type of action bi-ch because this is not what I do, but bi-ch, I’m scared.”
Trump has repeatedly said there’s a “security crisis at the southern border,” and he blames Democrats in Congress for the shutdown after they rejected his demand to pay $5.7 billion to fund the border wall.
The shutdown began at midnight EST on Saturday, Dec. 22.
According to The Associated Press, the president signed a bill Wednesday that will require about 800,000 federal employees affected by the partial shutdown to be compensated for lost wages once the shutdown ends.
So far Trump hasn’t responded to the rapper on Twitter, his preferred social media platform.
