A production assistant on Power was struck and killed by a vehicle during a production shoot Monday in New York City, prompting the Starz series to temporarily halt production.

Pedro Jimenez, 63, was setting up traffic cones for a shoot in Brooklyn around 4:20 a.m. when he was hit by a Ford Explorer, according to The Associated Press. Jimenez was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The 64-year-old driver remained at the scene after the incident and no arrests were made, authorities said.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of the members of our Power family,” Starz said in a statement to the media. “Our thoughts are with Mr. Jimenez’ family as we work to fully understand what has happened.”

The New York Police Department’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the case. It’s unclear how long the production shut down will last.

Power is executive produced by Courtney Kemp, 50 Cent, Mark Canton, Randall Emmett and Gary Lennon.  The series is currently in production on its sixth season.

Shortly after the incident, 50 cent took to Instagram to offer his condolences to Jimenez’s family.

“I just learned we lost Pedro Jimenez, a member of the Power production team early this morning. My prayers and condolences are with the entire Jimenez family,” the rapper-producer wrote.
