Jay-Z is apparently taking aim at his former friend and collaborator, Kanye West.
The hip-hop mogul slammed West via a rap verse in Meek Mill’s newly released song, What’s Free. The track — that also features rapper Rick Ross — appears on Mill’s fourth studio album, Championships.
Although Jay-Z didn’t call the Gold Digger performer out by name, many people on social media are speculating that the lyrics reference the entertainers’ strained friendship.
In one particular line, Jay-Z seemingly takes a jab at West’s financial situation and the rapper’s so-called group of yes men.
“I ain’t one of these house n—s you bought / My house like a resort, my house bigger than yours,” the Tidal co-owner raps.
Jay-Z supposedly then makes reference to West’s wife of four years, Kim Kardashian, rapping that she falls short of Beyoncé.
“My spou— (C’mon man). My route better, of course,” the lyric reads.
West has yet to comment on the lyrics, but he did refer to Beyonce and Jay-Z as his family back in September.
“Famleeeeee,” the dad-of-three captioned a since-deleted Instagram shot of the pair.
But two years prior to the post, West expressed frustration about his fractured friendship with Jay-Z.
“I’ve been sent here to give y’all my truth even at the risk of my own life, my own success, my own career,” he ranted during a November 2016 concert in Sacremento, Calif. “Jay Z—call me, bruh. You still ain’t called me. Jay Z, I know you got killers. Please don’t send them at my head. Please call me. Talk to me like a man.”
