Jillian Barberie is getting candid about her cancer diagnosis.

The former Good Day LA anchor took to Twitter Thursday to reveal she has breast cancer, and the disease has spread to her lymph nodes.

“Results back. It’s cancer in my right breast but also it has spread to my lymph node. Appointment at Bedford Breast to assess everything,” the 52-year-old television and radio host wrote. “I’m going to be super aggressive and do double mastectomy and they said I need chemo for the lymph. Thanks for coming on this journey with me!”

Barberie shared that she was most concerned about how the diagnosis would affect her two children, Rocco, 8, and Ruby, 11.

“I think the hardest part about a cancer diagnosis is telling your kids,” she tweeted, noting that she called celebrity doctor, Dr. Drew Pinsky, for advice. “I called Dr. Drew to help me with what to say. I’m not going to sugar coast it, but I also don’t want to scare them. Cancer sucks and f–k cancer.”

She added, “Kids took it pretty well and I think a big part of that is the fact that they just saw their ‘auntie Deb’ Tate go through cancer and kick its butt. Rocco asked if he could catch it from me.”

Barberie, who hosts The Drive Home with Jillian Barberie and John Phillips on KABC Radio in Los Angeles, said she plans to get breast reconstruction surgery after a double mastectomy and aggressive chemotherapy.

It’s unclear at this time if the Ontario, Canada native will take time off from KABC while she completes her treatment.
