Terry Crews took to Twitter Friday to share an apology letter from ex-William Morris Endeavor agent, Adam Venit, who the actor said sexually assaulted him.

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star posted the lengthy letter — sent to him in March — now that Venit has resigned from his position at the Hollywood talent agency.

“Received: March 22nd, 2018,” the actor tweeted. “Accepted WITH HIS RESIGNATION: September 10th, 2018 #Accountability.”

Crews first spoke out about the alleged sexual assault after the #MeToo movement took off in October 2017.

The 50-year-old actor, who is a passionate advocate for sexual assault victims, said Venit groped him during an industry event that took place in February 2016.

Following Crews’ allegations, the former agent received a one-month suspension at work, according to published reports. Seemingly unsatisfied with WME’s response to the claims, the dad-of-five filed a report with the Los Angeles Police Department, and a civil lawsuit against Venit in December.

The Los Angeles City Attorney’s office told PEOPLE magazine that it declined to file charges against Venit because the incident was “beyond the statute of limitations for misdemeanors.”

Although Venit denied “each and every allegation” in the lawsuit, according to PEOPLE, his letter took “responsibility” for putting Crews in “this situation.”

“I know that you didn’t ask for any of this. Again, I take responsibility for us being here now, together in this situation,” a portion of the note reads. “I am sorry for all of it.”

Venit also expressed hope that the two can “come together” one day to be a “force” for “positivity and change.”

He wrote: “I want to use this moment to be a positive influence with you and not just another Hollywood story that becomes the narrative of who we both are. We both are so much more and have so much more to offer. I even hope that someday we can come together and go forward with compassion and understanding, and be an amazing force for positivity and change in our culture.”

The general consensus on social media about Venit’s apology wasn’t positive.

“Yeah…this is a terrible letter,” someone chimed in. “You deserved a real apology, not this — but things are what they are!”

Crews has accepted the apology now that Venit has resigned. “It meant nothing without a resignation,” the actor confirmed to Deadline.
