Los Angeles police are investigating a criminal complaint against Black-ish actor Anthony Anderson, according to published reports.

On Friday, The Blast reported an unidentified woman claimed the actor assaulted her last year during a business meeting.

The woman reportedly met Anderson when she catered an event for the actor. The alleged assault occurred when the two met for a second time to discuss business opportunities.

Sources told the website the woman did not immediately file a police report, but felt comfortable coming forward months later, partly because of the #MeToo movement.

An LAPD spokesperson confirmed the police department is handling the case.

“We have a crime report listing him as a suspect in a crime,” the LAPD told The Blast, but did not offer any additional details except to say, “It’s an open investigation.”

Anthony Anderson issued a statement through a rep, saying: “It’s unfortunate that anyone can file a police report whether it is true or false. The authorities have not contacted Anthony or any of his representatives about this matter. Anthony unequivocally disputes the claim.”

It’s not the first time the actor has been accused of a crime.

In 2004, an extra on the set of Hustle & Flow alleged that Anderson and an assistant director raped her but the charges were dropped after a judge ruled there was no probable cause to try the case, Variety reported.

Earlier this month, the Black-ish actor received an Emmy nomination for his role on the ABC sitcom.
