Fans hoping to see Terry Crews in The Expendables 4 will be disappointed.

The actor revealed Tuesday on Capitol Hill that he turned down a role in the fourth installment of the franchise after a producer demanded he drop an ongoing sexual harassment lawsuit or face “trouble.”

Crews made the statement while testifying before a senate committee about legislation known as the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights.

The actor said an Expendables producer – who he did not name – contacted his manager, and insisted that he withdraw his civil suit against William Morris Endeavor agent Adam Venit if he wanted to appear in the film.

“If I didn’t, there would be trouble,” Crews said he was told.

The actor, who also co-stars in the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, said there was no way he would appear in the film after being threatened.

“Uh No. Simply because this same producer is under his own sexual assault investigation,” Crews stated. “Abusers protect abusers, and this is one thing I had to decide, whether I was going to draw the line on. Am I going to be a part of this or am I gonna take a stand, and there are projects I had to turn down.”

Crews first went public with his abuse allegations on social media in October, joining other survivors as they shared their stories amid the #MeToo movement.

The actor said he was assaulted by a Hollywood executive while attending a party with his wife, and later filed a civil suit against William Morris Endeavor agent Adam Venit over the incident, according to published reports.

Venit was temporarily suspended but remained at the talent agency.

Tuesday’s senate hearing took an emotional turn when former NFL player Crews was asked why he didn’t just push his abuser away.

“Senator, as a black man in America,” he told Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), before getting choked up and pausing. “You only have a few shots at success. You only have a few chances to make yourself a viable member of the community.”

He continued. “I’m from Flint, Michigan. I have seen many, many young black men who were provoked into violence and they were imprisoned or they were killed.”
