After giving birth to her son earlier this week, Eva Longoria is raising awareness about family separations at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The Desperate Housewives star, 43, posted a photo on Instagram Thursday of herself cradling newborn son Santiago, and encouraged fans to join her in supporting efforts to raise money for immigrant families.

“Hello world! I introduce to you Santiago Enrique Bastón,” she captioned the cover photo from Hola magazine. “In light of my son’s birth I wanted to bring focus on the families that have been separated at the border.”

The Mexican-American actress continued: “Having my son next to me, I cannot imagine him being taken from my arms. Families belong together which is why we must do what we can to reunite them. That’s why I am supporting @raicestexas and @aclu_nationwide to help fund legal services for separated families.”

First-time mom Longoria and husband José Bastón welcomed Santiago on Tuesday.

Her social media post came a day after President Trump signed an order to end the practice of separating children from parents crossing illegally into the U.S.

Longoria joins a growing list of celebrities who have spoken out about the border crisis, including George and Amal Clooney, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Gina Rodriguez, Judd Apatow, Rosario Dawson and Ava DuVernay.

The National Hispanic Media Coalition has condemned the actions of the Trump administration as “callous and immoral.”

“It is inhumane to rip children from their parents and hold them in what has been described by many as cement, wire cages,” NHMC President Alex Nogales said in a statement earlier this week. “We condemn the actions of this administration for their callous and immoral disregard for our children and for using them as leverage to obtain their racist immigration objectives from Congress.”
