Incredibles 2 made an incredible debut at the weekend box office, soaring to record territory with an estimated $180 million.

The animated Disney-Pixar film about a family of superheroes surpassed expectations to score the biggest opening ever for an animated movie. Finding Dory held the previous title with a $136 million debut back in 2016.

The family film played in 4,410 theaters, earning an average $40,816 per location, according to Box Office Mojo.

It was a different story for Superfly, which failed to take flight.

The remake of Gordon Parks Jr.’s 1972 blaxploitation classic came in seventh place after taking in just $6.3 million since Friday.

The crime thriller opened Wednesday to get a head start on Incredibles 2, which pre-release tracking showed would do huge business. But the early start did little to boost Superfly’s fortunes as it brought in just $8.4 million over five days.

The film played in 2,220 locations, and earned a weekend average of $2,838 per location.

Granted the Sony Pictures release from music video veteran Director X only cost a reported $16 million to produce. But its debut is still disappointing.

Like the original, the remake centers on flamboyant cocaine dealer Youngblood Priest, who wants to pull off one last job before leaving the drug business.

The updated version stars Grown-ish actor Trevor Jackson, Straight Outta Compton‘s Jason Mitchell and The Wire‘s Michael Kenneth Williams. The Atlanta-set film featured a soundtrack of original songs from ATL rapper-producer, Future.

Elsewhere at the box office, last week’s winner, Ocean’s 8, slipped to second place with $19.5 million. The comedy, Tag, opened in third with $14.6 million. Solo: A Star Wars was fourth with $9 million and Deadpool 2 rounded out the top five with $8.8 million.
