The fights, insults and baby mama drama on The Jerry Springer Show are over, at least for now.

NBC Universal has halted production on the syndicated daytime talk show with no new episodes planned, according to Broadcasting & Cable. But it may not be the very end.

The CW struck a multi-year deal to begin airing repeats of the series in the fall. Depending on how many people tune in, the network can order new episodes of the show and it will go back into production.

The Jerry Springer Show premiered in 1991, and is hosted by former Cincinnati mayor, Jerry Springer.

The show features salacious content including infidelity reveals and paternity tests, with episode titles such as “I Cheated At The Wedding,” “Sandwiched Between Two Sisters” and “My Stepmom Is Trying To Steal My Man!”

The studio audience often encourages guests to misbehave by chanting “Jer-ry, Jer-ry, Jer-ry!”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series averaged 10 million viewers in the late 1990s, with its popularity reaching a peak in 1998. But in recent years, the ratings have slipped.

Often described as “trash TV,” the show has faced tough competition from more family-friendly daytime chatfests such as Live with Kelly and RyanEllen and The Talk, as well as from similar conflict-oriented strips like Maury and The Steve Wilkos Show.

After 28 seasons, The Jerry Springer Show has produced 3,800 episodes.
