FX is bringing Atlanta back.
The cable network announced Thursday it’s renewed Donald Glover’s award-winning dramedy for a third season, after the successful sophomore installment titled “Robbin’ Season.”
“Atlanta is phenomenal, achieving and exceeding what few television series have done,” said Nick Grad, co-president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions in a statement to the media.

“With ‘Atlanta Robbin’ Season,’ Donald and his collaborators elevated the series to even greater heights, building on the enormous success of their award-winning first season,” Grad added. “We’re grateful to the producers and our extraordinary cast and crew for achieving this level of excellence, and we share the excitement with our audience about the third season knowing they will continue to take us to unexpected and thrilling places.”
Atlanta follows cousins Earn (Glover) and Alfred (Brian Tyree Henry) navigating the city’s rap scene. It co-stars Lakeith Stanfield, Zazie Beetz and Khris Davis.
The series premiered in September 2016 and has won a string of awards including two Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series –both for Glover. The show has also picked up two Golden Globes and a Peabody.
Atlanta is executive produced by Glover, Paul Simms, Dianne McGunigle, Stephen Glover and Hiro Murai.
Season 3 is set to premiere in 2019.
