Meghan Markle’s Dad ‘Regrets’ Not Attending Royal Wedding

Meghan Markle’s father says he is frustrated he was unable to attend his daughter’s wedding to Prince Harry.

Thomas Markle, 73, watched the ceremony on television just like millions of other people around the world.

Although instead of sitting in his living room, he said he watched from bed as he recovers from heart surgery.

“The service was beautiful and it’s history,” Thomas told TMZ Saturday. “I will always regret not being able to be there and not being able to hold my daughter’s hand.”

Thomas was supposed to walk Meghan down the aisle.

But after a news story surfaced alleging he staged photos of himself getting ready for the wedding, Thomas revealed he was having heart problems and needed to undergo surgery instead of traveling to the U.K.

Meghan was accompanied down the aisle by Prince Harry’s father, Prince Charles. Her mother, Doria Ragland, traveled to St George’s Chapel with the bride in a vintage Rolls Royce.

Meghan’s dad said watching his daughter become Prince Harry’s wife brought back a flood of memories.

“When you watch your child get married, every thought goes through your mind, every memory from the first day she was born, the first time I held her,” Thomas explained.

He also said he texted Meghan to wish her well.

As for what his other children – who were not invited to the royal wedding – thought of the ceremony, Thomas kept that to himself. But he did say his outspoken relatives need to leave Meghan alone, already.

“Now I pray that Harry and Meghan can go on a nice honeymoon and rest and relax, and all of my relatives will just shut up about everything,” he said.
