Larry Wilmore is coming back to TV.

On Monday, NBC announced Wilmore will be launching a topical late-night style show in September on their new streaming platform, Peacock. Wilmore is no stranger to late-night TV, and this marks his first return to hosting since Comedy Central canceled The Nightly Show in 2016.

Wilmore himself announced the move on his Twitter feed, captioning Peacock’s official announcement with “I’M BAAAAAACK!!!!!” The comedian’s new series will showcase him having conversations with notable people from entertainment, sports, and of course, politics.

Peacock said in a press release it has ordered 11 episodes of the Untitled Larry Wilmore Show, which premieres in September. The weekly series will be executive produced by Jo Miller, Tony Hernandez, Brooke Posch, David Miner and Michael Rotenberg and Wilmore, who has an overall production deal with Universal TV.

“I’m honored to have the chance to not only be back on television but to partner with the great team at Peacock,” Wilmore said in a statement. “Apparently there’s a lot going on in the world right now and a big election happening soon, so I’m happy to have a place in the conversation.”

Wilmore has gone on to partner with and help launch the careers of Robin Thede, Issa Rae, Franchesca Ramsey and other prominent black women in the entertainment industry.

The Peacock announcement was also coupled with the news of Amber Ruffin’s new late-night show on the streamer.

Ruffin, who is currently a writer for Late Night with Seth Meyers and A Black Lady Sketch show, will host a”smart” and “silly” take on the news of the week. The show will also premiere in September, and Peacock has ordered nine half-hour episodes.

Ruffin serves as an executive producer, along with Jenny Hagel, Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker. The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions.

“Having a late-night show on Peacock is so exciting!” Ruffin said in a statement. “We can’t wait to write sketches, songs and jokes about this terrible time we call now!”
