Ice Cube says the long-awaited fourth Friday film is moving forward.

The rapper, actor and producer recently sat down for an interview on Power 106 FM’s Nick Cannon Mornings. After chatting about music and his Big3 basketball league, Cube talked about the status of his Friday follow-up.

Cannon asked if Chris Tucker’s character Smokey, who was absent from the two sequels, will appear in the fourth film tentatively titled Last Friday.

“It’s really about Chris Tucker making a commitment,” Cube said. “He’s not gonna hold up the movie.”

After Cannon asked for a cameo in the comedy, Cube said just about everyone he knows wants to be in the movie.

“I’ve got a long line of people asking for cameos. Man, I’ve got like 400 cameos,” he joked.

In May, Cube told ESPN’s The Jump that the script for the film is written.

“We finished the script, we’re getting notes from the studio and it’s going back and forth,” he said. “It would be nice for this to come out on the 25th anniversary.”

The original Friday was released in 1995. Cube produced, co-wrote and starred in the film alongside Tucker. The comedy about unemployed slackers Craig and Smokey made $27 million at the box office on a reported $3 million budget.

Nia Long, Tommy “Tiny” Lister, Paula Jai Parker, Angela Means and the late Bernie Mac also starred in the film. It was followed by the sequels Next Friday (2000), and Friday After Next (2002), with Mike Epps co-starring in the films.
